Dog Stay Free at Broadwater: Your Questions Answered

Dog Stay Free at Broadwater: Your Questions Answered

Yes, your dog can come on holiday with you. From now until 31 October 2026, our Dog Stay Free offer means the usual $38 per dog, per night pet supplement is on us when you book one of our pet friendly villas direct, and the beach right outside the resort is one where dogs can run off lead.

Below are the questions we get asked most about bringing a dog to Broadwater, followed by our favourite dog friendly spots between Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River, all an easy drive from your villa.

What Dog Stay Free includes

Book direct for a stay between 10 August and 31 October 2026 and your dog stays free, meaning we waive the usual $38 per dog, per night pet supplement. Dogs must be declared and booked in advance, and our usual pet policy and $200 refundable pet bond still apply.

On any stay, the pet supplement covers a dog bed, a blanket and bowls for the length of your stay, so there is less to squeeze into the car.

Which villas can dogs stay in?

All of our villa types have dog friendly options available, so you can choose the accommodation that best suits your stay. Whether you are planning a couple’s getaway, a family holiday or a trip with a group, just let us know you are bringing your dog when you book so we can make sure you are allocated to one of our designated pet friendly villas.

Dog friendly villas are subject to availability, so we recommend booking ahead, particularly during busy periods.

The beach right outside the resort

Broadwater sits on Geographe Bay, and the stretch of beach from Holgate Road to Alan Street, right outside the resort, is a City of Busselton dog exercise area where dogs can run off lead. The water is calm and the sand is soft, so a morning run does not start with a drive.

A few things worth knowing before you head out:

  • Off lead areas are marked with signs at the beach access paths, and outside them dogs need to stay on a lead. The City of Busselton keeps an up to date map of dog exercise beaches, and it is worth a look before you go.
  • After a swim, a quick towel off at the villa door keeps everyone happy, as wet dogs are not permitted inside the villas.

A day trip to Dunsborough

Dunsborough is about 20 minutes west, and parts of the foreshore are marked as off lead dog exercise areas, with dog free sections in between, so keep an eye on the signs.

Further out, most of Meelup Regional Park is closed to dogs to protect the wildlife, with the exception of the dog beach at Eagle Bay. That makes Eagle Bay the one to aim for when the whole family wants a swim in that famous clear water.

Dog friendly wineries in Margaret River

Margaret River town is about 40 minutes from Broadwater, and plenty of the region’s cellar doors are happy to welcome a well behaved dog. A few that currently say so publicly:

  • Stella Bella, where dogs can come inside the cellar door and picnics are welcome.
  • Snake and Herring in Wilyabrup, a relaxed cellar door with a dog friendly welcome.
  • House of Cards, where dogs are welcome outside and inside when there is room.
  • Lenton Brae, which has winery dogs of its own, plus water bowls and plenty of shade.
  • Whicher Ridge, with outdoor seating where your dog can settle at your feet.

Policies can change with the season or a busy weekend, so a quick call ahead is always a good idea.

For breweries, markets and a full dog friendly day around Busselton, our earlier guide, Where Can I Holiday With My Dog Down South?, has you covered, and our Busselton bucket list has plenty more for the two legged members of the family.

The house rules, briefly

We keep the rules short so everyone, two legs or four, has a good stay:

  • A maximum of two dogs per villa.
  • Dogs need to be well mannered, socialised and up to date with vaccinations.
  • Dogs stay on a lead outside your villa, and are not allowed in the pool areas.
  • Dogs cannot be left unattended in the villa or anywhere in the resort.
  • Please clean up after your dog.
  • Guests are responsible for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their dog’s stay.

The full pet policy is on our pet friendly accommodation page, and we send the pet paperwork to sign once your booking comes through.
